Player, Coach, Mentor

Meet Sherrie Session, the visionary founder and creator of 4WARDMVMT. Drawing from her extensive international experience as both a player and coach, Sherrie developed a unique curriculum that empowers athletes to discover their personal brand through the fundamentals of sports. She firmly believes that sports can be one of the most profound educators in a person’s life. 4WARDMVMT is more than just a sports program—it’s a bridge that connects athletic experiences to real-life challenges, facilitating a successful transition into life beyond sports. Sherrie first introduced this program in 2019 during her professional playing season in Adelaide, Australia. Fueled by her passion for empowering women and girls, 4WARDMVMT was designed to elevate the female athlete’s experience both during and after their playing careers.

Born and raised in Southern California, Sherrie began her basketball journey at the age of 5, inspired by her four older sisters, all of whom played the game. Determined to take her passion as far as possible, she earned a full scholarship to the University of Rhode Island, which led to a professional career in Lausanne, Switzerland after graduation. Her career took her to France, Australia, and Zimbabwe, where she played and coached. While she no longer competes overseas, she continues to play and was recently part of the Women's Drew League 2022 Championship Team.

In 2015, Sherrie returned to the classroom to pursue a Master’s degree in Communication as a graduate assistant for the John Carroll University Women’s Basketball program. This opportunity allowed her to refine her coaching and mentoring skills and discover her true passion. "Basketball led me to the understanding of ‘self,’ that I am the greatest project I will ever get to create—that I am already a masterpiece," says Sherrie. This realization inspired her to create what she felt was missing in her own journey as a young athlete. "I will always be an athlete, no matter what career or life transition I find myself in," she reflects. Today, Sherrie finds immense joy in continuing to explore herself and the world around her, living unapologetically true to who she is.
